Assistance for Qualifying Residents
Eligible households can turn to the South Dakota Department of Social Services’ Office of Energy Assistance for help with a professional energy audit. The
Weatherization Assistance Program, designed to help low income South Dakota households overcome the high cost of energy by making their homes more energy efficient, is operated by the four community action programs that serve South Dakota.
Each community action program in South Dakota offers cost-effective maintenance, audits and advice to improve your home’s energy efficiency. Blower door tests, walk-through inspections, window and door weatherization and insulation are just a few examples of the many possible weatherization services. South Dakota residents should contact the community action program in their area for more information regarding the available options each office can provide, as well as the application and verification process.
