Energy efficiency/alternative energy workshop to be held in Hot Springs
The Black Hills RC&D is holding an energy efficiency/alternative energy workshop for the people they serve in Butte, Meade, Lawrence, Pennington, Custer and Fall River counties. The workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (MDT) at the Mueller Center in Hot Springs, S.D. There is no registration required, and the event is open to the public.
The workshop is intended to help the local community, farmers, ranchers, and business managers identify where they can reduce their energy costs and what energy and financial tools are available to them. There will be information on how to reduce energy consumption through land conservation practices, make homes more energy efficient, produce energy under the renewable energy program, and where to acquire products in the renewable energy market.
Several corporations and professional speakers have been invited to provide information and display booths. Renewable energy equipment will be demonstrated. Guidance on how to qualify for programs to either produce energy or reduce energy consumption will also be shared. USDA Rural Development will provide information on grants that are available to agricultural producers and rural small businesses to either produce energy or to reduce energy consumption.
This workshop is co-sponsored by the Black Hills RC&D, the State Association of RC&D Councils, and the Fall River Conservation District, who will be hosting a free lunch.
The Black Hills RC&D Council continues its commitment to outreach efforts that support learning and provide information to residents in the six-county area about the wise use of natural resources and the enhancement of economic development.
