Energy efficiency rebates, federal tax credits benefit MidAmerican Energy Company customers
Des Moines, Iowa – MidAmerican Energy Company offers a variety of energy efficiency programs aimed at helping residential, commercial and industrial customers reduce energy use and save money in the process.
Those efforts are enhanced this year through 2010 with the availability of additional savings offered through federal tax credits for customers making their properties more energy efficient. Federal tax credits for qualifying improvements to existing homes are available, covering 30 percent up to $1,500. Those improvements could involve windows and doors, insulation, roofs, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, water heaters and biomass stoves. Credits for new and existing homes also are available for qualifying renewable energy systems, covering 30 percent of the cost of new systems. Customers can find more information about the federal tax credits at www.energystar.gov/taxcredits.
"MidAmerican is committed to helping customers save money on their energy bills and use energy more efficiently," said Diane Munns, vice president, regulatory relations and energy efficiency. "With the additional incentives offered through the federal tax credits, it is an excellent time for customers to consider adding insulation or upgrading their heating and cooling equipment to more energy efficient models."
